BENDIGO’S HIDDEN GEM TAKES OUT GOLD AT WINE SHOW.
Byronsvale Vineyard and Accommodation Bendigohas made a strong impression at the 2019 Victorian Wine Show winning a gold medal for the Byronsvale Estate 2017 Shiraz.
Byronsvale Vineyard is the oldest in the Bendigo region, set in a tranquil valley in Maiden Gully and located just seven kilometres from the Bendigo CBD.
Byronsvale’s 52 year old vines are being carefully restored to their former glory by industry newcomer Denise Langford and family. “It’s been a labour of love. We are thrilled about the gold medal and even more excited about the future for Byronsvale,”said Denise.
With a farming and horticulture background, Denise took on the role of Business, Vineyard and Accommodation Manager at Byronsvale when parents Michael and Denise Burke purchased the property in 2016.
After 50 years farming in the New South Wales Southern Riverina, the Burkes decided to turn their hand to winemaking. The Award Winning Byronsvale Estate 2017 Shiraz was their first vintage.
Now custodians, Denise, her parents and family have rewired and reposted the vineyard while a program of sustainable, organic practices will ensure Byronsvale produces premium quality vintages into the next decade and beyond.
Byronsvale offers unique accommodation in its stunning heritage listed two storey stone stables that have been restored and converted into three self-contained apartments (circa 1870).
The award winning Byronsvale vineyard and Accommodation Bendigo offers its guests exclusive wine tasting, while an array of wines are available online or through its wine club.
Denise has plans underway to open a pop-up wine bar on the banks of the Myers Creek overlooking the Byronsvale vineyard, while a swimming pool will soon give guests another perfect location to sip some of the property’s award winning wines.
